High Summer Gathering 2014

27th Annual High Summer Gathering

Wednesday, July 30 at 1pm to Monday, August 4 at 4pm
on The Land aka Amber Fox

Ah, summer on the Land! Seventy-five acres of rolling hills and valleys, populated by maple, larch, wildflowers, birds, rabbits and Fae.

For over a quarter of a century, the High Summer Gathering has attracted diverse men from around the continent and beyond. These are the sunny carefree times to frolic through the forest by day and dance under the moon with your Faerie brethren by night. Come swim in the mighty Mississippi, party in the Departure Lounge, roast by the fire, and steam in the sauna.

The Foxy Boutique has been restocked and stands ready to furnish all your drag and dress up needs. Clothing is optional but can be fabulous!

Some activities are planned, and any more are up to us: crafts, spa treatments, mud wrestling, face painting, ritual & magick, drumming & meditation, anything we can imagine or desire.

Each day at the Gathering begins with a Circle.  The Circle starts with a brief administrative meeting, followed by a longer Heart Circle (aka group therapy session, aka bitch fest, aka story time, aka ...).

The play is shared and so is the work. There are no paid staff on the Land, so everyone needs to help out with a few chores each day to make the Gathering go smoothly. Washing dishes, preparing meals, chopping wood, mowing lawns, tidying and cleaning, repairs, new construction ... it's all up to us. But the work becomes play when shared with your fae friends!

As well as help with the chores that keep the Land going, we rely on contributions to the Purse for food, fuel for the pump & lawn mowers, propane for the fridge & stove, paint, materials for repairs, paper products and all our other mundane needs. We use an honour system with a suggested contribution of $25 per night, more if you can or less if you can't.  For example, if you are coming for the whole Gathering (5 nights) we suggest a $125 contribution. If you are camping for the weekend (Friday to Monday) the suggested donation is $75. No one is turned away for lack of funds, but we ask that you contribute something, even if you can only afford a few dollars per night. It is also helpful if you can make your contribution near the beginning of the Gathering, as that is when most of the shopping is done.

The meals are vegetarian, communal and delicious. The Erection contains a fully appointed kitchen, and we are always looking for chefs, assistants, and learners. Whether you want to plan a whole meal, create a single dish, or help chop ingredients, we've got you covered!

There is plenty of room for tenting along the Path of the Snake and in the May Pole field. There is also room for some to sleep in the Bunkhouse (though this is on a first-come first-served basis and space is limited).

This Gathering is for those who identify as gay or queer men.

Remember this is eastern Ontario in the summer, so bring your sun and bug protection! If this is your first gathering, be sure to check out what to bring.

Friday Night: The Return of Fetish Night

Pre-empted for the past two summers by the Departure Lounge Blastoff parties, this year marks the return of an Amber Fox classic, Fetish Night.

Break out your leather, whips, ball gags and truncheons. Wear your fur, feathers, rubber or PVC. Clamp your titties, lock your chain, shave those balls and serve.  Don your diapers or magic underwear, insert that plug or doggy tail. What better time to try out a new fetish?

Of course this is a party in the Departure Lounge, so don't be surprised if you see some alien fetishware this year too!

Saturday Night: Know Talent Show

Saturday night we will enjoy the many talents the Fae folk bring to the Know Talent Show. Can you sing, dance, recite a poem or play an instrument? Or do you have a flair for performance art? If so, we would love to have you join us on stage!

A bit shy but want to try? Talk to the show's organizers and they will be sure to find a suitable role for you. More of a watcher than a performer? An appreciative audience is the other essential ingredient for this ever-popular event!

Rumour has it that this year's show will feature a Karen Carpenter Retrospective including never-before-revealed details of the true story of her "death". Don't miss it! More details to come.

Sunday Afternoon: High Tea on the Lawn

Picture yourself in a warm forest glade,
With colourful silks hanging there in the trees.
A cocktail, the music, some dancing or croquet.
The sun licks the glittering gown that you wear.

For many, High Tea is the highlight of High Summer. Don't dream it, be it, at High Tea.

Victoria Day Gathering 2014

VictoriaAlbertMarriageEngraving

Victoria Day Gathering

Friday May 16 at 1pm to Monday May 19 at 4pm
on The Land aka Amber Fox

It's Vicky's birthday and the queens are celebrating!

Prince Albert PiercingWhy celebrate a dead queen's birthday you may well ask? I could talk about her influence on the Canadian identity (she gave royal assent to Confederation, plus we are all still a bit uptight because of her), or about her extensive reign, her political accomplishments, yada, yada, yada. Instead, let me just remind you that were it not for Queen V, we would not have had the Prince Albert, or so urban legend would have us believe!

The Victoria Day long weekend marks the unofficial beginning of Canadian camping season, and the first safe date for planting to avoid frost. The Land will be coming awake with greening leaves and grass, and a multitude of spring flowers. All that is missing is you.

The Gathering begins and ends in Circle with short administrative and longer Heart Circles each morning.

Saturday night will feature the Know Talent Show. Can you sing, dance, recite a poem or play an instrument? If so, we would love to have you join us on stage! A bit shy but want to try? Talk to the show's organizers and they will be sure to find a suitable role for you. More of a watcher than a performer? An appreciative audience is the other essential ingredient for this ever-popular event!

Other events will be both planned and spontaneous, and as always, the Foxy Boutique stands ready to meet all of your dress up, drag and costuming needs.

The meals are vegetarian, communal and delicious. The Erection contains a fully appointed kitchen, and we are always looking for chefs, assistants, and learners. So whether you want to plan a whole meal, create a single dish, or help chop ingredients, we've got you covered!

As well as contributions with the chores that keep the Land running, we rely on contributions to the Purse for food, fuel for the pump & lawn mowers, propane for the fridge & stove, paint, materials for repairs, paper products and all our other mundane needs. We use an honour system with a suggested contribution of $25 per night, more if you can or less if you can't.  For example, if you are coming for the whole Gathering (3 nights) we suggest a $75 contribution, and we find most people give between $40 and $100. No one is turned away for lack of funds, but we ask that you contribute something, even if you can only afford a few dollars. It is also helpful if you can make your contribution near the beginning of the Gathering, as that is when most of the shopping is done.

It may be a bit chilly, but don't worry, the Land will keep everyone warm. The Erection is heated, bonfires will make us toasty and the sauna is always steamy. Tenting may be cool, and some will opt for snuggling in the Bunkhouse. Remember to check the weather forecast and bring appropriate clothes and a warm sleeping bag along with your usual gear.

If you are a member of our Facebook Group, you can RSVP to the Facebook Event. Otherwise, please email to let us know that you are coming.

So join us for V's Day, and don't forget your PA!

Beltane Gathering 2014

Beltane Gathering

Thursday May 1 at 1pm to Sunday May 4 at 3pm
on The Land aka Amber Fox

Beltane is as old as the hills and a magical Radical Faerie tradition. It is a celebration of Spring, fertility, good fortune and good harvests to come, and for those of us this far North it's also something of a victory party over our longest season by far, Winter. And boy has this been a Winter!!! Traditionally, Beltane eve is known for its bonfires and the Maypole is raised during the day.

The Beltane gathering on the Land aka Amber Fox is a gender and orientation inclusive event. The Land hosts gatherings for gay and queer men at other times of the year.

It may be a bit chilly, but don't worry, the Land will keep everyone warm. The Erection is heated, bonfires will make us toasty and the sauna is always steamy. Tenting may be cold for the hardy, and many will opt for snuggling in the Bunkhouse. Remember to check the weather forecast and bring appropriate clothes.

The Gathering begins and ends in Circle with short administrative and longer Heart Circles each morning. Events will be both planned and spontaneous, but will probably include some sort of Bel-fire ritual as well as a Maypole ritual.

Of course, Saturday night will feature our traditional Know Talent Show.

And as always, the Foxy Boutique stands ready to meet all of your dress up, drag and costuming needs.

The meals are vegetarian, communal and delicious. And lately, we have been earning a reputation as the gourmet gathering! We have a fully appointed kitchen in the Erection, and are always looking for chefs, assistants, and learners. So whether you want to plan a whole meal, create a single dish, or help chop ingredients, we've got you covered!

The play is shared and so is the work. For example, if you are staying for the whole Gathering (3 nights) we suggest a $75 contribution, and we find most people give between $50 and $100. No one is turned away for lack of funds, but we ask that you contribute something, even if you can only afford a few dollars. It is also helpful if you can make your contribution near the beginning of the Gathering, as that is when most of the shopping is done.

If you are a member of our Facebook Group, you can RSVP to the Facebook Event. Otherwise, please email to let us know that you are coming.

So come brothers, come sisters, come siblings of intermediate, indeterminate or undecided gender! Be you gay, lesbian, straight, bi, two-spirit, queer, questioning, or other, all those of Fae heart are welcome.

LumBearJack Work Weekend 2013

LumBearJack Work Weekend

Friday, November 8 at 1pm to Sunday, November 10 at 3pm
on The Land aka Amber Fox

Okay bears and lumberjacks, are you ready for one last romp in the woods before winter sets in? Then join us once more on the Land aka AmBearFox.

This weekend is for serious wood choppers and Meditation Hut builders, but it won't be all work!

Bring your perforMANnce gear or get outfitted at the Foxy Boutique for the ever-popular Know Talent Show. Enjoy hearty meat off the BBQ, spectacular fires, wiener roasting, bare bear saunas, dancing till dawn, and snuggling with your cub! What could be better?

The gathering begins and ends in Circle, with a brief organizational followed by a longer Heart Circle on Saturday morning.

Vegetarians are welcome, but be aware that the Carnivores will be indulging themselves this weekend!

If you are a member of our Facebook Group, you can RSVP to the Facebook Event. Otherwise, please email to let us know that you are coming.

The suggested contribution to the Purse is $15 to $35 per night, more if you can or less if you can't, $25 on average. For those attending the whole gathering, that works out to $30 to $70, average $50. We use an honour system and ask that you pay what you can, even if it is only a few dollars - nobody is turned away for lack of funds. The Purse pays for food, fuel for the pump & lawn mowers, propane for the fridge & stove, paint, materials for repairs, paper products and all our other mundane needs.

The weather may be chilly, so you should check the weather forecast before you pack.

There is plenty of room for tenting along the Path of the Snake and in the May Pole field. The cooler nights will encourage many to opt for snuggling in the Bunkhouse, and if it is very cold, the Departure Lounge and even the sauna can hold extra sleepers!

Please join us, or I shan't be able to bear it ;)

Thanksgiving Gathering 2013

Thanksgiving Gathering

Friday, October 11 at 1pm to Monday, October 14 at 3pm
on The Land aka Amber Fox

Imagine the Land in Technicolor! Seventy-five acres of rolling hills and valleys, painted with the brilliant fall colours of maple, larch, oak and elm.
The days are getting shorter and the nights colder, so it is time to snuggle up with your Faerie brethren, party in the Departure Lounge, roast by the fire and steam in the sauna.

Some activities are planned, and the rest is up to us: crafts, spa treatments, ritual & magick, drumming & meditation, anything we can imagine or desire.

The Gathering begins and ends in Circle with short administrative and longer Heart Circles each morning. Meals are communal, vegetarian and delicious! The Foxy Boutique stands ready to furnish all your drag and dress up needs.

If you are a member of our Facebook Group, you can RSVP to the Facebook Event. Otherwise, please email to let us know that you are coming.

Remember this is eastern Ontario in the autumn, so bring appropriate clothing and a warm sleeping bag or lots of blankets. You should check the latest weather forecast too.

Friday Night: Faeries in De Nile

As it was written on the ancient papyrus, so will it come to pass. It's Faeries in De Nile, so bring your pyramids, mummies and Ancient Egyptian finery for another fabulous theme night.

Friday evening, enjoy an Ancient Egyptian feast in the Erection. Cous cous, vine leaves, baba ghanouj, hummus, olives and falafel. OK, who am I kidding? I'm totally faking it. I have no idea what the Ancient Egyptians actually ate, but you can read about it here. We are still seeking chefs, so bring your favourite recipes from the Nile region and dive right in!

Then later that evening, it's time to walk like an Egyptian and dance the night away in the Departure Lounge. Who knows who will make an appearance: Bast, Cleopatra, Nefertiti, maybe even Ra!

Saturday Night: Know Talent Show

After an early dinner (really!) on Saturday night we will enjoy the many talents the Fae folk bring to the Know Talent Show.
