Amber Fox Does World Pride

Amber Fox Does World Pride

Friday June 27 to Sunday June 29
in Toronto, Canada

We have three events planned during the final weekend of World Pride Week in Toronto, culminating in the parade on Sunday. All the Pride events are gender and orientation inclusive. See you there!

Friday Evening:  Pot Luck at the Alien Embassy

Join us on Friday evening for a delicious vegetarian pot luck supper at the infamous Alien Embassy, just northeast of Toronto's Gay Village.  A perfect way to start off Pride weekend.

We may not be Gathering, but that won't stop the Fae folk from cooking! And we have been known to sing and dance at such events too. Who can say?

And I don't want to reveal too much, but it is said the Alien Baby may be making an appearance!

BYOB and a vegetarian dish of your choice, don your Fae apparel, and spend a relaxed evening with Faerie friends.

And as always, Gayliens are welcome.

If you are a member of our Facebook Group, you can RSVP to the Facebook Event. Otherwise, please email to get the details.

Saturday Night:  Open House at Vaseline Tower

For those of you who are too young to know, Vaseline was once the lubricant of choice for male sexual congress (you know, fucking). So it was natural that the giant phallus rising from the centre of Toronto's Queer Village should have gained the monicker "Vaseline Tower".

High above the Village, on the southeast corner of the Tower, the Garden in the Sky offers bold city vistas as well as a stunning lake view. Bathed in ruby light, amidst flowers and vines, enjoy a cocktail while you listen to the music of the street.

Join us on Saturday evening, for a short visit or a long stay.  Feel free to stop by on your way to or from the many other events being held in the area. Arrive any time after 8pm: if the red light is on, we are still partying.

Some snacks and soft drinks will be provided. There will also be a fabulous vat of sangria, otherwise BYOB.

If you are a member of our Facebook Group, you can RSVP to the Facebook Event. Otherwise, please email to get the address.

Sunday Afternoon:  Everybody Loves a Parade

The Radical Faeries were a regular feature of Toronto Pride back in the '80s, carrying parasols and riding rickety oversized tricycles.  Back then the Pride Parade was inherently political, and the queers who marched were as likely to encounter jeers as cheers.

Nowadays, Pride is a very different entity, and for many Radical Faeries holds little interest. Over the years, Faeries have drifted away from the parade and are now rarely seen at Toronto Pride. In fact, for the past several years, many of us have chosen to gather on the Land during the Canada Day / Toronto Pride weekend.

However, in honour of World Pride being held in Toronto this year, we decided to return to our roots and march in the parade. Sadly, the tricycles and parasols have been lost in the mists of time, however we will bring our own unique brand of Fae.

In keeping with this year's Pride theme "Rise Up" our float will feature both an alien spacecraft and the Alien Baby itself! Marchers are encouraged to dress in full Faerie diversity.

If you are planning to be in the parade, please read the 2014 Rules of Parade Entry (ROPEs) and the 2014 Terms and Conditions. You've been told!

Those marching should meet us outside the Alien Embassy before 12:30. Or, you can meet us at the Marcher Check-In Area on Bloor Street East at 1pm (enter via Ted Rogers Way and do not arrive early). We will be in Marcher Staging Section G.

So come march, mosey, sashay or flutter with us: everybody loves a parade!

The Greening Land - Easter 2014

The buildings seem abandoned,
while patches of snow remain,
and the Stream of the Snake yet flows.
Stillness lies upon the Land, but ...
if you look closer, Life is bursting forth everywhere!
The garden is ready for planting at Beltane,
and the muddy paths,
are filling with clover.
A new pond here and there,
a patch of bright green,
and some definite signs of spring!
The daffodils will be blooming at Beltane.
The flower garden ...
is showing signs of life,
with poppies on the way.
Geneva builds a fire,
while Peaches makes dessert,
and Simon braves the chill.

Join us soon
on an
even greener Land

Victoria Day Gathering 2014

VictoriaAlbertMarriageEngraving

Victoria Day Gathering

Friday May 16 at 1pm to Monday May 19 at 4pm
on The Land aka Amber Fox

It's Vicky's birthday and the queens are celebrating!

Prince Albert PiercingWhy celebrate a dead queen's birthday you may well ask? I could talk about her influence on the Canadian identity (she gave royal assent to Confederation, plus we are all still a bit uptight because of her), or about her extensive reign, her political accomplishments, yada, yada, yada. Instead, let me just remind you that were it not for Queen V, we would not have had the Prince Albert, or so urban legend would have us believe!

The Victoria Day long weekend marks the unofficial beginning of Canadian camping season, and the first safe date for planting to avoid frost. The Land will be coming awake with greening leaves and grass, and a multitude of spring flowers. All that is missing is you.

The Gathering begins and ends in Circle with short administrative and longer Heart Circles each morning.

Saturday night will feature the Know Talent Show. Can you sing, dance, recite a poem or play an instrument? If so, we would love to have you join us on stage! A bit shy but want to try? Talk to the show's organizers and they will be sure to find a suitable role for you. More of a watcher than a performer? An appreciative audience is the other essential ingredient for this ever-popular event!

Other events will be both planned and spontaneous, and as always, the Foxy Boutique stands ready to meet all of your dress up, drag and costuming needs.

The meals are vegetarian, communal and delicious. The Erection contains a fully appointed kitchen, and we are always looking for chefs, assistants, and learners. So whether you want to plan a whole meal, create a single dish, or help chop ingredients, we've got you covered!

As well as contributions with the chores that keep the Land running, we rely on contributions to the Purse for food, fuel for the pump & lawn mowers, propane for the fridge & stove, paint, materials for repairs, paper products and all our other mundane needs. We use an honour system with a suggested contribution of $25 per night, more if you can or less if you can't.  For example, if you are coming for the whole Gathering (3 nights) we suggest a $75 contribution, and we find most people give between $40 and $100. No one is turned away for lack of funds, but we ask that you contribute something, even if you can only afford a few dollars. It is also helpful if you can make your contribution near the beginning of the Gathering, as that is when most of the shopping is done.

It may be a bit chilly, but don't worry, the Land will keep everyone warm. The Erection is heated, bonfires will make us toasty and the sauna is always steamy. Tenting may be cool, and some will opt for snuggling in the Bunkhouse. Remember to check the weather forecast and bring appropriate clothes and a warm sleeping bag along with your usual gear.

If you are a member of our Facebook Group, you can RSVP to the Facebook Event. Otherwise, please email to let us know that you are coming.

So join us for V's Day, and don't forget your PA!

Beltane Gathering 2014

Beltane Gathering

Thursday May 1 at 1pm to Sunday May 4 at 3pm
on The Land aka Amber Fox

Beltane is as old as the hills and a magical Radical Faerie tradition. It is a celebration of Spring, fertility, good fortune and good harvests to come, and for those of us this far North it's also something of a victory party over our longest season by far, Winter. And boy has this been a Winter!!! Traditionally, Beltane eve is known for its bonfires and the Maypole is raised during the day.

The Beltane gathering on the Land aka Amber Fox is a gender and orientation inclusive event. The Land hosts gatherings for gay and queer men at other times of the year.

It may be a bit chilly, but don't worry, the Land will keep everyone warm. The Erection is heated, bonfires will make us toasty and the sauna is always steamy. Tenting may be cold for the hardy, and many will opt for snuggling in the Bunkhouse. Remember to check the weather forecast and bring appropriate clothes.

The Gathering begins and ends in Circle with short administrative and longer Heart Circles each morning. Events will be both planned and spontaneous, but will probably include some sort of Bel-fire ritual as well as a Maypole ritual.

Of course, Saturday night will feature our traditional Know Talent Show.

And as always, the Foxy Boutique stands ready to meet all of your dress up, drag and costuming needs.

The meals are vegetarian, communal and delicious. And lately, we have been earning a reputation as the gourmet gathering! We have a fully appointed kitchen in the Erection, and are always looking for chefs, assistants, and learners. So whether you want to plan a whole meal, create a single dish, or help chop ingredients, we've got you covered!

The play is shared and so is the work. For example, if you are staying for the whole Gathering (3 nights) we suggest a $75 contribution, and we find most people give between $50 and $100. No one is turned away for lack of funds, but we ask that you contribute something, even if you can only afford a few dollars. It is also helpful if you can make your contribution near the beginning of the Gathering, as that is when most of the shopping is done.

If you are a member of our Facebook Group, you can RSVP to the Facebook Event. Otherwise, please email to let us know that you are coming.

So come brothers, come sisters, come siblings of intermediate, indeterminate or undecided gender! Be you gay, lesbian, straight, bi, two-spirit, queer, questioning, or other, all those of Fae heart are welcome.

F7 Potluck in Toronto ('cuz it's way too cold on the Land)

F7 Potluck

Saturday, February 15, from 2pm to midnight
at The Alien Embassy, Toronto

Sadly, it's way too cold on the Land aka Amber Fox for us to gather there.
But for those Fae who can make it to Toronto,
we are holding a potluck at the Alien Embassy.

Join us on Saturday afternoon for conversation, music, drinks and snacks (featuring goodies from Bobbette & Belle Artisanal Pastries). Then stay for a potluck supper in the evening. We will be serving spinach lasagna, and the rest depends on what you bring.

So don your Faerie garb and brave the cold. Bring a vegetarian dish of your choice and BYOB.

If you are a member of our Facebook Group, you can RSVP to the Facebook Event. Otherwise, please email to get directions.

Mail Call

We got mail from Breitenbush!

It's a Call, from the Queen of the Unseelie Fae, to attend a Gathering in lands far to the South (as reckoned in these mortal realms).

But if you choose to venture into these warmer Southern climes, be wary! We here on the Land aka Amber Fox have some experience with these Unseelie Fae:

And for those left behind, here in the North, you can join us at F7!
